Topic of your Task: Phases of the Moon
Time Frame: 1 day
CCR Standards: Reading Anchor Standards 1 & 9, Writing Anchor Standards 1, 4, 6 & 8
SC Science Standards: 4-3.6 Illustrate the phases of the Moon and the Moon’s effect on ocean tides.
Your assignment: Imagine that you are an astronomer in the Science Museum in Charleston. You have a group of fourth graders visiting the Earth's Magnificent Moon exhibit and your job is to explain what causes the different phases of the moon and what they are called.
Steps you will be following: In order to plan and write your presentation/speech, you will do all of the following:
1) Read the article, The Phases of the Moon, watch the video, Phases of the Moon, and take dash notes on both of these. Both of these are on the resources page.
2) Organize your information, plan, and write your presentation. You may open a word document to write your presentation, or just write it on a piece of paper. Your teacher will decide which will work best.
3) You will want to refer to your notes while writing your presentation. You can re-read the article and re-watch the video as often as you need to.
