Topic of your Task: Structure of a Cell: The Smallest Unit of Life
Time Frame: 1 day
CCR Standards: Reading Anchor Standards 1 & 9, Writing Anchor Standards 1, 4, 6 & 8
Your assignment: Imagine that you are an scientist working in the Science Museum in Charleston. You have a group of fifth graders visiting the Wonderful World of Cells exhibit and your job is to explain what cells are and describe their main parts. You might even throw in a few fun facts if you want!
Steps you will be following: In order to plan and write your presentation/speech, you will do all of the following:
1) Read the article, The Structure of a Cell, watch the video, Best Cell Rap, and take dash notes on both of these. Both of these are on the resources page.
2) Organize your information, plan, and write your presentation. You may open a word document to write your presentation, or just write it on a piece of paper. Your teacher will decide which will work best.
3) You will want to refer to your notes while writing your presentation. You can re-read the article and re-watch the video as often as you need to.
