Time Frame: 2 days

CCR Standards: Reading Anchor Standards 1 & 9, Writing Anchor Standards 1, 4, 6 & 8
Your task: Imagine that your class has a weekly newsletter to parents, and your job is to write an article about two of the planets in our solar system that you've been studying: one from the inner planets, and one from the outer planets. In this article, give the parents information about your two planets and how they're alike and different.
Steps you will be following: In order to plan and write your article, you will do all of the following:
1) Click on the planets link and read the general information about planets. Then choose one from the inner and one from the outer group (these are all listed, with links, on the left hand side of the planet page). As you read, take dash notes, looking for similarities and differences.
2) Watch the video, Planets, and take dash notes. Both of these are on the resources page.
3) Organize your information, plan, and write your article. You may open a word document to write your article, or just write it on a piece of paper. Your teacher will decide which will work best. You may also use the graphic organizer that is on the resources page.
4) You will want to refer to your notes while writing your newsletter article. You can re-read the article and re-watch the video as often as you need to.
